Grievance Procedure

Heisel and Associates in fully committed to conducting all activities in strict conformance with established standards. Heisel and Associates will comply with all legal and ethical responsibilities to be non-discriminatory in promotional activities, program content and in the treatment of program participants. The monitoring and assessment of compliance with these standards will be the responsibility of the Continuing Education Administrator and the members of the Continuing Education Committee.

While Heisel and Associates goes to great lengths to assure fair treatment for all participants and attempts to anticipate problems, there will be occasional issues which come to the attention of the program staff which require intervention and/or action on behalf of the CE Program Administrator. This procedural description serves as a guideline for handling such grievances. When a participant, either orally or in written format, files a grievance and expects action on the complaint, the following actions will be taken.

If the grievance concerns a speaker/author, the content presented by the speaker/author, or the style of presentation of the speaker/author, the individual filing the grievance will be asked to put his/her comments in written format. The CE Program Administrator will then pass on the comments to the speaker/author, assuring the confidentiality of the grieved individual.

If the grievance concerns a live or online workshop offering’s description, level of presentation, the facilities in which a live workshop was offered, or the ease of use of our website, the CE Program Administrator will mediate and will be the final arbitrator. If the participant requests action, the CE Program Administrator will:

  1. attempt to move the participant to another Live Webinar, or
  2. provide a credit for a subsequent year's Live Webinar, or
  3. provide a credit for another online course, or
  4. offer to switch Live Webinar CE hours to online courses, and/or
  5. provide a partial or full refund of the workshop fee.

Grievances about speaker behavior, about content presented, about the style of presentation, and about facilities and/or the website, will require a written note, documenting the grievance, for record keeping purposes. The note need not be signed by the grieved individual.
